Sun Prairie swim teams approach East-West rivalry meet
Both Sun Prairie girls swim programs posted notable Big Eight results ahead of their Oct. 8 head-to-head meet.
Sun Prairie East was scheduled to host rival Sun Prairie West in girls swimming on Oct. 8 after both programs built momentum in Big Eight dual meets.
West defeated Madison East 117-53 and Madison La Follette 131-30, sweeping the varsity relays against Madison East and winning every varsity event against La Follette. Michaela Loess won the 200 individual medley and 100 freestyle against Madison East, while Breeley Hastings and Mahati Sathish also earned individual wins.
Against La Follette, Sathish won the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly. Hattie Ries took first in the 50 and 500 freestyle, with additional event wins from West swimmers across the lineup.
East, meanwhile, won six varsity events at Madison East on Oct. 1. Becca Elliott finished first in the 50 and 500 freestyle, and Elaina Nicodemus took two individual wins. Elliott also swam on East's winning 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay teams.
East entered the rivalry matchup as the defending winner following a 92-78 result the previous fall. Both programs were scheduled to resume conference meets Oct. 16, with East at La Follette and West hosting Verona.
