Budget planning
Mayor Stocker's proposed budget is scheduled for presentation to the Common Council on October 6, followed by budget workshops. A public hearing on the 2027 budget is set for Tuesday, October 27. The city identifies state levy limits as a challenge in planning services and expenses.
Home repair loans
The city launched its Home Repair Loan Program in August, with administration by nonprofit Project Home. It offers zero-interest loans with deferred payments for qualifying low- to moderate-income homeowners making essential repairs. The city's Affordable Housing Fund supports the program.
Data center moratorium
On September 1, the Common Council approved a 12-month moratorium on data centers larger than 10,000 square feet. During that period, the city will not accept, process or approve zoning permits for projects above that size.
The Data Center Workgroup will study potential effects, existing rules and possible standards and approval procedures. The city said the pause will allow public discussion and further policy development.
The update also noted the renovated Family Aquatic Center, the second Mural Fest and summer activities including Concerts in the Park, National Night Out and Downtown Night Market.
