Sun Prairie's August city update announced an appointment to the administration and described an ongoing review of possible data center development.
Assistant city administrator
Penny Holler, MPA, has been appointed assistant city administrator and is expected to join the city in September. Officials pointed to her experience in municipal operations, economic development and organizational leadership.
Planning before new proposals
Following direction from the Common Council last fall, the city established a cross-departmental Data Center Workgroup. Its task is to examine potential effects, review city rules and recommend a framework for future decisions.
The city said no data center development had been proposed in Sun Prairie at the time of the update. The workgroup began presenting findings to committees and commissions, with an initial Sun Prairie Utilities Commission presentation scheduled for Monday, August 17. Residents were invited to attend meetings and follow the process.
The update also acknowledged the approach of Corn Fest season.
