DeForest receives grant for high school agriculture education
DeForest is among schools receiving Compeer Financial support for hands-on agricultural instruction and facilities.
DeForest High School was named among nearly 70 middle and high schools awarded agriculture education grants through Compeer Financial's Next A.C.R.E. program.
Compeer announced a combined $446,318 in grants, with individual awards of up to $7,500. DeForest's project involves greenhouse drip and overhead irrigation systems.
The grants support classroom equipment, agricultural technology and improvements to instructional spaces such as greenhouses and workshops. Other recipient proposals include training tools for welding, livestock care and precision agriculture.
The program is intended to help schools provide practical agricultural career training as educators address limited budgets, staffing challenges and changes in industry technology. Eligible programs are located within Compeer's 144-county service area.
