The DeForest Norskies boys’ lacrosse team left Oconomowoc High School on a high note, securing an 11-10 win over Oconomowoc on Saturday, April 25, in its second game of a two-game triangular.

The Norskies’ one-goal win on Saturday snapped a two-game losing streak for DeForest.

The Norskies lost 21-3 to Waunakee — a team ranked No. 1 in the April 26 edition of the Wisconsin Boys’ Lacrosse Coaches Association Poll — on Thursday, April 23, at Waunakee High School before dropping its first game of its triangular in an 11-9 defeat to Bay Port.

Against Oconomowoc, however, the Norskies got back into the win column, thanks to a heroic effort from Braxton McGuigan on the attack.

McGuigan, only a sophomore, scored a team-high five goals. This season, the midfielder/attacker is blossoming — and excelling — in a high-usage role offensively, where he’s scored 17 goals and dished 11 assists through eight games this spring.

In addition to McGuigan, junior M/FOS Gabriel Wahl and freshman D/LSM Ashton Callaway chimed in with two goals apiece, while freshman midfielder Bryson Henke and senior attacker Casen Moore scored on goal each.

Ashton Callaway led DeForest in the assists column with four, while sophomore SSMD Nolan Kemp picked up a team-high seven ground balls in the Norskies’ winning efforts. Sophomore goaltender Blake Shroades collected nine saves on 19 shots on goal.

The Norskies would look to carry their momentum over on Tuesday, April 28, on a road trip to De Pere. DeForest put up a fight, but fell in a close 9-7 defeat. At the time of publication, information on that game was unavailable.

This brings the Norskies’ overall record to 4-4 on the season with a 1-2 record in the new-look Badger Conference.

Up next for DeForest, the Norskies will host Janesville on Thursday, April 30, at 7 p.m., before heading to the Woodside Sports Complex in the Wisconsin Dells for the 2026 Badge Spring Invite. There, DeForest is scheduled to play two games: Wauwatosa at 8:45 a.m. and Muskego at 2 p.m. DeForest will return home on Wednesday, May 6, in a home game against Verona at 7 p.m.
