DeForest's girls tennis team played a full slate of competition as the season continued.

In just one week, DeForest faced eight matches. They won five, improving their record to 10-4 overall, according to tennisreporting.com.

Amid the voluminous slate, DeForest picked off three Badger-Large opponents in dual meets and went 2-3 overall at the DeForest Dual Invitational over the weekend.

Early in the week, DeForest swept both Monona Grove and Beaver Dam 7-0 on Tuesday, Sept. 8 and Thursday, Sept. 10.

DeForest then then recorded two victories against Madison East (6-1) and McFarland (6-1) at its weekend invitational. Their three losses came to Kettle Moraine (5-2), Middleton (7-0) and Madison West (7-0).

Match results

In their two wins over the Purgolders and the Spartans, Emersyn Meek (No. 3 singles) and Lauren Koeller (No. 4 singles) both went 2-0 — winning each match in two sets.

DeForest did not drop a single match from its No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 doubles tandems.

DeForest didn’t have much time to waste, however, returning to action on Tuesday, Sept. 15.

They left with a 5-2 road victory against Oregon to improve their record to 5-1 in conference play.

In its victory over Oregon, facing No. 1 singles was Lillian Krieg. She won in two sets, 6-4 and 6-1.

Representing DeForest at No. 2 singles was Lillian Henrickson, who lost her match 6-4, 6-1.

Emmersyn Meek, facing No. 3 singles, won in three sets. After winning her first set 6-1, she dropped her second, 6-4. However, Meek responded with an 11-9 win in the third set to take the victory.

Lauren Koeller closed the door at No. 4 singles. She strung together a pair of 7-5, 7-5 set victories.

Heading over to doubles, DeForest made its impact known immediately.

DeForest's No. 1 tandem of Atley Rauber and Allie Nordness earned the first victory of the day, winning in two sets (6-4, 6-2).

While DeForest’s No. 2 duo — Addisyn Basham and Evangeline Linzner — lost their match, DeForest closed the afternoon on a high note with a two-set victory (6-3, 6-0) at No. 3 singles behind the duo of Molly Finnegan and Ella Finnegan.

DeForest now enters a crucial point of the season, as the Badger-Large Conference Tournament looms.

DeForest close the week with road trips to Watertown (Sept. 16) and Baraboo (Sept. 17) before hosting Edgewood on Monday, Sept. 21.

The conference tournament is scheduled from Friday, Sept. 25 through Saturday, Sept. 26 at UW-Madison’s Nielsen Tennis Stadium.
