The DeForest Norskies girls’ lacrosse team didn’t have much time to hang its heads on a rough afternoon.

Less than two hours after a 15-0 defeat to Oregon, the Norskies secured its first victory of the 2026 season, defeating Pulaski 10-6 on Saturday, April 25, at DMB Community Bank Stadium.

For the Norskies, Saturday’s win over Pulaski was noteworthy in many ways.

The win marks the first head coaching career victory for its first-year head coach, Chloe Lewis, who took over the reins from former head coach Jayna Poster this spring.

In spite of the rapid turnaround on Saturday, DeForest made sure to finish its day on the turf on a high note — and they did so without their starting goalkeeper.

According to Chloe Lewis, the Norskies’ starting goalkeeper, sophomore Melanie Lamberty, was unable to play that weekend. That meant only one thing: somebody else had to step up.

Enter sophomore goalkeeper Haydee Meyers, who did just that.

On 14 shots on goal, Meyers collected eight saves, registering the win for DeForest.

With Meyers anchoring the last line of attack, the Norskies’ offense was what one could best describe as a “balanced attack.”

Junior Brenly Schoenemann — who currently leads the Norskies in goals scored this season with 12 — and sophomore Kendall Johnson led DeForest in goals scored with three, while sophomore Haley Royster chipped in with two goals. Senior Jordan Misterek and sophomore Emme Osgood each chimed in with one goal apiece to round out the scoring for DeForest.

Meanwhile, Osgood led the Norskies in ground balls with five, while Misterek and Johnson each forced three turnovers.

With a win in the record books, DeForest will hope to build on its victory this weekend, where they are scheduled to host Sussex Hamilton on Saturday, May 2, at 11 a.m.
