DeForest's girls golf team qualified for the WIAA Division 1 state tournament for the third consecutive year after winning its sectional at Lake Windsor Country Club.

The Norskies posted a 329, ahead of Middleton's 340, to claim one of two automatic team spots. Coach Scott Siemion said the team improved significantly on the back nine after shooting 179 on the front.

Abigail Henriksen led the field with a 71, while Brinley Goninen shot 78. Anabelle Stravinski recorded 89, Aaliyah Crum 91 and Addyson Heuer 101. DeForest had previously won the Badger-Large title and the Tomah regional, where its team score was 331.

At the sectional, Oregon finished at 350, Waunakee and Tomah at 351, Monona Grove at 398, Sun Prairie East at 405 and Sun Prairie West at 406. Middleton also advanced as a team.

The state meet was scheduled for Oct. 12-13 at University Ridge. DeForest finished third at state the prior year and sixth the year before that.
