Debra K. (Kreul) Breggeman of rural DeForest died June 19, 2026, following a brief illness. She was 71. She was born March 29, 1955, in Boscobel to Howard and Dorothy (Beattie) Kreul and grew up on the family farm between Boscobel and Fennimore.

Career and family

Breggeman graduated from Boscobel High School in 1973 and earned an associate degree from Southwest Technical College in 1975. After moving to Madison that May, she worked from June 1975 through 2006 for the Wisconsin Legislature's Retirement Research Committee/Joint Survey Committee on Retirement Systems.

She met Dale Breggeman in January 1985 and married him May 16, 1987, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Boscobel. They raised their son Alexander in rural DeForest. She enjoyed reading, history, travel, time outdoors and being at home.

Survivors include husband Dale, son Alexander and daughter-in-law Erin. Her parents, parents-in-law Warren and Ruth Breggeman and her cat Pretzel preceded her in death.

Remembrance

A celebration of life and luncheon was scheduled for July 6, from 1 to 3 p.m., at The Cottonwood, 4716 Green River Road, Fennimore. At her request, no funeral was planned; a private family burial was set for Boscobel Cemetery. The family suggested memorial donations to Sauk County Humane Society.
